The doctor and staff are very knowledgeable and friendly for the most part. However I found it a hassle trying to an immediate answer from the staff or doctor. They give a phone number to an answering desk and are not abreast of what's happening in the Urology Department. They simply take notes of your concerns and leave you hoping for answers. If you're looking for a more direct answer for your issues this is not the place. On a better note the doctors knowledge is marquis and is thorough in his explanation. Outside of the ... read more

I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2007, and UTMB did a phenomenal job taking care of me with this issue. They quickly performed an operation and followed up with me for years to make sure no cancer returned. Although I believe Dr. Orihuela may have retired since that time, I will always remember him as being a great doctor for UTMB. More recently Dr. Sonstein did a very good job with my vasectomy where everything went very smoothly. I never had any problems with UTMB urology.
