Extremely disappointing experience for first-time SSN application We visited this SSA office for a first-time SSN application (as a spouse of an E-3 visa holder) and were met with unhelpful and dismissive behavior from one of the staff members. When we explained that SSA is a national service and appointments can be scheduled at any field office regardless of where we live, the employee rudely insisted we must visit our “local office” and refused to assist further.
