My small business had a loan and it was advertised as interest free for small business. We took the loan, paid it back in full before it was due and then just got a notice that I owed over $5000 in interest. SBA never sent me a bill, notice or anything. My “original bill” for interest that was never received was $700 or so. The SBA stinks and is sinking the small business they were designed to help. I am very angry and just paid my bill.

The agency and RI Government thought it would be a great idea to help small businesses impacted by the bridge closure by offering loans. Why would any business person take on more debt when business has slowed and you are trying to meet current financial obligations. The SBA would not even listen to refinance current debt to lower interest rate! THIS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCY SHOULD BE CLOSED!
