i took my beloved cockatiel, Taki, in for an after hours consult after he developed a strange breathing noise. The vet who saw us, Lauren, was so understanding and really went above and beyond for us. She didn’t charge us the after hours consult fee because she felt like she didn’t do much. She even took us into another room so we can take Taki out and let her observe his tail bobbing. on Sunday 12 October, took my 1year 11month old cat, I and my son went to UQ vet as local vet was unable to see Noah on the above date. I knew something was wrong with him but could not put my finger as to what it was. the total bill was about $230 with medication of 2 different pain killers, mirtazapine to stimulate appetite (did not work) a specimen bag with container and 2 disposable syringes (was not used) because Noah failed in urinating). Ive used this veterinarian service for over 15 yrs and although at times they may appear a little cold and clinical regarding the cost and payment arrangements, in all fairness, this would be a university management directive and nothing to do with the professional and expert support received from the nurses and vets managing the clinic. To be fair, in any health care arrangement, human or animal, policies and procedures are required to ensure the business is successful.
