The receptionist, a young blonde lady with large silver frames sitting second from the line at 10:55 ish on 20/04/26 profiled me as an international student and tried to charge me out of pocket fees after I said I didn't have health insurance. After looking at my confusion she finally asked if I had a Medicare card, and then told me it would be billed to Medicare instead. Why did she just assume I wouldn't have a Medicare Card? The consultation with Dr Maria Kowalczuk was extremely disappointing. We found the doctor to be very rude, unprofessional and insensitive in her behaviour. It was also concerning that she appeared unable to properly understand or communicate with us during the appointment. We also felt uncomfortable due to what we experienced as discriminatory and racist behaviour. This was upsetting and completely unacceptable in a medical setting. The clinic is busy and sees a large number of students so I can understand the wait times and not always being able to book an appointment. However, the ease of finding a clinic that will bulk bill (which is hard these days) and familiar with overseas health insurance was nice. Dr Sian O‘Sullivan is lovely and is very compassionate and caring. The nurses are all also very kind. The ease of an on campus clinic is convenient.
