Billing is a nightmare. Rates are high. Website is garbage.
Uppco Rates are extraordinarily high. Houghton Co, specifically, is almost twice that of average Minnesota rates, 60% higher than Marquette and the highest in the midwest per kWh. I literally checked. California is the only state that has similar rates. People can no longer afford the rates with inflation, my entire street is dark by 9pm, seriously a joke, and sad that this foreign entity overseas is doing this to us, and getting rich as a result. I had a good experience with customer service and the surveyor getting new power installed to my new property. They got it in after all their permits and site surveys within a month of service request. It was about $350 to run cable underground from the main pole to power meter about 120 feet. The phone calls and return calls were with pleasant people.
If they do this price increase I’m starting a boycott UPPCO movement. For everybody's info I spoke with MPSC about having an investigation done on the practices of UPPCO and they had someone from UPPCO investigate UPPCO. Super scummy company all around as they tried to charge me $600 that I never owed sent it to collections because I knew it was bogus and refused to pay it. Continued fighting it over six months for them to tell me at the end that I never owed that money and they’ll reimburse for me for it by giving me credit... read more
