I recently attended a workshop on water conservation and native plants. I learned much about the Texas habitat . . . go NATIVE!
Thes are the people who protect the Guadalupe River. They also protect our drinking water. If you suspect something wrong with your water, they will test it for you. An official report costs just little. I was there to test my tap water for chlorine because it's very strong. They quickly tested it unofficially ( without a report), and it turned out that it was 1.4 out of a max of 4.0.
