BEST experience giving birth here. It is a place made for women. The staff —from the ladies that bring you your meals to the nurses and doctors were over and beyond on thoughtfulness and experience. I got to experience labor in a jetted tub! They offered multiple different ways to help me through until it was time to push. I had someone by my side through the whole process. I wish every woman could have the same birth experience I had. The room was nice and spacious, the couch even pulls out so partners have a nice place to sleep. While I was having contractions Debbie my nurse checked in frequently, brought in birth balls, and helped me figure out pain medications (tried nitrous oxide, then epidural). UPDATE 06/2025: fast forward 2 years and I went back to UPMC Lititz for my 2nd baby. I had the same amazing care team and midwife. My baby had shoulder dystocia and was large 9lbs 3oz. They handled what could’ve been a serious situation with calmness and confidence. I cannot recommend this hospital enough! 05/2023 First time mom here. My birth experience here was amazing. They seem to pick and choose who to treat well and take care of. I was treated like I shouldn't have been there and shouldn't have kids (as we overheard two nurses say in the hallway). Only one nurse was kind to my husband and I. She explained everything she was doing but when she left at the end of her shift we felt alone with no medical support/support from staff. Im giving two stars for Dr. Sheridan and Midwife Terry who gave me a wonderful delivery experience. They were both so knowledgeable and took great care of me during birth. Postpartum care- horrendous. I pushed for 5 hours and had second degree tears, labial tears, and vaginal packing afterwards. An hour after birth I was helped to the bathroom once, and after that I was told "I need to do this on my own".
