I haven’t seen Dr. Alkayem yet. But through scheduling an appointment, the employee I encountered on the phone, went aboveto not only help me pick a new doctor. But was also very patient with me being picky about the time of my appointment. Wonderful person to deal with the public!
Be sure to watch your billing. They bill you just for going in their building. Two appointments for simple doctor visits over $1,000. There for a total of 10 minutes. I spent 6 hours trying to figure out what the fees were and why I wasn't informed beforehand. Their response is I should have asked. The people were nice and attentive enough. The services and people were great. My problem is with the billing. I had nothing more than a doctor's appointment. I was charged a several hundred dollar "clinical services" fee. There was nothing done besides a simple office visit. I thought I was just seeing a doctor, but UPMC charges a clinical services fee for using their facility. They should make this fee known up front. I have been talking with UPMC, my insurance, the state insurance commission, and my state legislator about this practice.
