Was told by a friend that there was an appointment-based studio that ran Calisthenics classes in Richmond and went to go check it out. I met the Calisthenics teacher (Justin) as well as the other owner (Hossein) who were both very friendly and made the whole experience a blast. Even though I'd just booked for a once off class I knew immediately afterwards I'd be coming back for more. Uplift is such a great gym! The space is super clean, non-intimidating, and has a really welcoming vibe. I love that it’s an appointment-based studio, so you always get the time and attention you need. I’ve trained with both Justin and Hossein and they’re awesome. They take the time to get to know you on a personal level. I started with the 1-on-1 personal training program with Uplift in March, and it's honestly been game-changing for my lower back pain and overall stiffness. The overall environment of the gym is very welcoming, not intimidating at all for people that haven't trained in years (like myself) and the studio is surprisingly very clean - no qualms about that. I have been training with Hossein since 2019, my first goal was just to be healthier, my initial weight was 81kg, in less than a year I lost 10kg. But not just that, I became stronger, confident and with a healthier life style. Hossein helps me to achieve my goals with professionalism and respect, he also taught me to enjoy the process and always to challenge myself to become the best version of myself. All my interactions with Uplift have been such a positive experience. The semi-private training setup strikes the perfect balance, you get tailored coaching from Hossein and Justin, while still feeling part of a supportive group.
