Do NOT use this company. Worst experience I have ever had getting a claim paid. It takes 4 minutes and 45 seconds going through the auto prompts to get to the right department. Then plan on being on hold for 30- 60 minutes more. They keep looking for ways not to pay. 1st I was told I didn't have any coverage. Took 2 days to figure out I DID have coverage. Then they come back and said my spouse wasn't covered even though it says so on their website. Had to have my employer fill out a 3 page form and resubmit and wait 3 more d... read more
This system fails everyone needing help. You have to have access to a printer and be able to mail or fax your paperwork. They do not have an option to fill out online. It does everything in their power to inhibit the employee from the services they need in their time of need. Do yourself a favor and just sue your company if they cause you pain or suffering or you lose your job. Do not even attempt to use these frauds.
I was NEVER provided the benefits specifications and what my particular insurance covered vs not… I gave notice 6 WEEKS prior to going out on voluntary surgery that I would be… after many back and forth MEAN (the specialists speak down to you like you are scum of the earth just looking to rob from them) conversations with claims and appeals and finally supervisor, I was told that the “disability had to happen before they can request info from your Dr to determine “PRE-EXISTING”! The reviews speak for themselves. Unum is the worse disability insurance. They will blame everything on a pre-existing condition even if you dont have one. When they start asking you for the most obscure and irrelevant information just know you are going to get denied because they are trying to find the smallest reason to say it was pre-existing. Absolutely horrible. You won't be able to reach or speak to your case manager, and any reps you speak with outside of your case manager cannot help. Each request takes 5 business days for a response. They eat up your time trying to get the process going and approved so you can get paid. I've requested TWICE paperwork they are sending to my doctor for requests so I can ensure it's being filled out properly. Haven't received it. They do not work with you.
