If I could give zero stars, I would. Over the past three days, I called Unum four times to clarify how many weeks I’m entitled to for medical and bonding leave—and received four completely different answers. One representative even claimed I was eligible for fewer weeks than I received during my last pregnancy, despite nothing about my situation having changed except the law, which should now be more favorable. They don't deserve 1 star, but no other choice! This is by far surreal what I have gone through. How is UNUM allowed to stay in business?? They clearly don't care, and to be honest how is my employer doing business with them. The 866 number you call is outsourced to an overseas company, and take information such as your social security wow! and have no idea what they are doing!! This was my first experience using UNUM due the a stage 4, lung cancer finding at the beginning of the year. It has been bad enough knowing you are going to die but fighting through the paperwork is truly a battle of its own. Looking at all my medical records from the year, one would think they could tie together the information to realize I can’t work again.
