ZERO stars! STAY AWAY FROM UNUM! They canceled my claim without proper notice. I informed my Case Manager that I would be providing a continuation letter and their form they wanted at my upcoming Neurologist appt, since my Primary Care Physician was on vacation. Then they canceled my claim on 6/30 at 8am and my Case Manager was MIA. If you are stuck dealing with UNUM, have your lawyer on stand-by.Look up their lawsuits and the special ABC did on them. I am very disappointed with this insurance company. My crown treatment claim was denied due to "insufficient evidence" despite my dentist providing the required documentation. The lack of clear communication and unfair review process caused unnecessary stress and delays. I expected better support for a medically necessary treatment.
Why is it so hard to get a form for FMLA?! My gosh!!! I'd rather do paper form if I could instead of calling. The website is somewhat helpful but to answer a question, is NOT the business!!
When I finally received the extension number to call the rep handling my claim, they rarely answer their phone. They do NOT communicate what's going on with your claim. The rest of the UNUM Reps are difficult to understand and they do NOT explain what needs to be done, how everything works, etc. The information on the UNUM website doesn't match with what they tell you over the phone. I needed this medical leave for health reasons, now I'm stressing out even more because I may not be paid for two weeks.
