Terrible experience with UNUM's FMLA process. I had an existing approved FMLA claim (valid until 6/27/25), and their own representative (Shaterra) confirmed that I did NOT need to submit additional medical certification. Yet, despite following all instructions, UNUM suddenly demanded new paperwork, causing unnecessary delays. This company is a joke! I have been doing nothing but fight with this company since my injury in 11/2024! They can’t answer questions! The person they give you as your case worker is never at work or doesn’t return calls! I have called them everyday still no answers!
They are the worst. They just take your money. I filed a claim to find out we don’t get the full benifits since we live in California. I did receive payments totaling $103.00. I paid more into the policy than what I will ever collect.
This is a class action waiting to happen. I work for a World Wide Grocery warehouse. We started using Unum in April I am one of 4 (that I know of) people that have been held hostage. Unum is 5-6 weeks behind in paperwork in EVERY case. I temporarily lost health care benefits. I went back to work 6/11 it is now 9/20 and Unum just reeased my papwrwork after Corp got involved. I am personally reaching out to an attny. This co should not be in business.
Can you please hire fluent English speaking people or put them through training. Why is so hard to get through a simple conversation.
