After a bike accident on gravel I was taken to ER at UVA. The positives: My wait time was not long. The staff was friendly and they did get me promptly x-rayed & scanned. The negatives: abrasions were not cleaned, was not given ice for broken clavicle, I was left sitting on a sweaty bike kit which they had cut off 6 hours earlier. The next morning I was told I could eat. They finally brought me a meal at 5pm. Epic fail! 8 hours for an UTI. Patient information from other patients out in the open . Nurse eating at the nurses station. Poor communication ! Poor hand hygiene . Doctor from the next shift never showed up! Sent medication to wrong pharmacy . We should have went to martha Jefferson ! Poor leadership. Broken equipment ! Incompetent staff ! Also Hippa violations with other peoples health information laying around ! Reported it and they just swept it under the rug ! Poor leadership !
They tried to prescribe my 5 year old daughter a fluoroquinolone antibiotic for an acute ear infection despite there being other safer options available. I'll never go back again.
Professional, courteous. A special call out to the young lady in the triage area before discharge “Kendal”. This young professional is a serious multitasker who was absolutely delightful, and took great care to each person in the area. She is a true asset and stellar healthcare professional on the UVA staff.
