I went to UVA Health in severe dehydration after food poisoning. I was given one bag of saline—clearly insufficient for the condition I presented with—and then denied water for the rest of the day. Instead of addressing the dehydration, staff ordered a CT scan and ultrasound. The nurse would not answer basic questions about the tests or why I was being kept from drinking. Substandard care despite signs of sepsis. My call bell was intentionally disabled after a nurse became upset when I calmly asked where my nurse was because it had been 2 hours since seeing them and my symptoms were worsening. I literally had to use my cell phone to call the ER desk to request help, which took another 52 minutes. Vitals were only taken once at intake, despite administration of IV pain medications and antibiotics. I’ve literally received more attention and higher level of care in Turkey. Doctors told my guy they were gunna tell the discharge nurse immediately for him to be discharged just to find out they were only told 45 minutes later ridiculous sat waiting to be seen for 8 hours for a couple stitches
