I am a big fan of UIHC hospitals, but the emergency department is one of the most poorly ran departments I have ever seen. My 2 year old son was having worsening symptoms after being told he had strep the previous weekend. We were told by an urgent care doc to go to the ER because of the worsening symptoms after having tried 2 antibiotics. On 04-04-2025 around 5:30-6pm we went to the IA City ER. We made it into our room quick and were told that our son would be getting an IV so they could do a CT, take labs, and give fluids.... read more
Wait was reasonable considering the circumstances and care was thorough. Overall positive experience.
Pitiful I missed a 1/3 of my shift at work to wait almost 6 hours for my wife to be treated and I'm sorry but your policy doesn't override the constitution on free speech or expression. Clearly if someone is getting agitated correct the issue. Especially don't kick out the patient if the " problem" already left. Mind you I wasn't even talking to the staff so how can I " verbally harm " them unless they don't like being called out on their bs and don't want to be reminded as about violations on patient care. This is the model of inefficiency and excess and waste. they have a monopoly in this town and they know it and so they absolutely do not care what anyone thinks about their experience in the emergency room. My dad is 80 with multiple chronic medical conditions. He came in too weak to stand and had a positive influenza swab as soon as he got there.
