We like to frequent independent stores and not the big box stores possible. We have been long time customers of University Electric. We used to feel confident with the sales staff but no longer. They used to do their own installs and now use third parties. The price and quality of the installs vary significantly.
We have been getting our appliances from University Electric Home Appliance for many years, whether for upgrades or replacements. We love the wide variety of brands and models they carry, as well as their very knowledgeable staff. Recently, during a major home remodel, we purchased all of our appliances from the same store. Do not buy an extended warranty for a dishwasher from University Electric. We made the mistake and purchased the 6 year extended warranty. When we had a problem with our dishwasher, we attempted to use our extended warranty. So unless you're willing to wait between 14 days and 1 month to get a dishwasher repaired in the Bay Area, don't buy the extended warranty from University Electric. Newton at University Electric listened to our needs, budget, family lifestyle, space specs, renovation goals and design, and made recommendations that *fit* all of those boxes. He immediately asked us questions about our kitchen space, gas connections, plumbing, etc, and actually highlighted installation considerations we weren't aware we needed to think about.
