The president and CEO, Stephen Ranzini actively tried to silence the voices of Brown housing activists by saying he faced more racism as a white man at one of the most elite prep schools in the US and at Yale in the 1980s than most Black and Brown people do today. He compared NIMBYs ("Not in My Back Yard" protestors who block affordable housing construction so they can horde wealth in homes they already own) to Brown people.
