Death takes no holiday. This Veterans Day I attempted to call Unitys 8th Ave office at about 9:30 AM.. I tried repeatedly until about 10:15 AM ., making sure I had the correct number by checking multiple sources, I was amused and then annoyed and amazed that a funeral home, especially one of their stature in the Harlem community, could make itself unreachable. Very Poor Service on a Pre-Paid Burial Plan Having such a hard time with the Unity Funeral Chapel in Harlem that I feel compelled to write this review. My aunt had a pre-paid burial plan which was purchased in 2006. When she passed away, I called them. First thing they tell me is that they have no refrigeration, so either I have to pay for embalming of the body (which my aunt did not want) or they will have to store the body elsewhere until cremation. Serve with Dignity and Respect Unity Funeral Chapel has been a staple in the community for decades. A lot of resident use their services because they serve the families with dignity and respect.
