Beware of United Surgery Center! Schultzel's office did not submit appropriate documentation for a prior authorization request in a timely manner to my insurance for my surgery to get covered (resulting in half of it being denied two days before, with no time left to appeal, and them lying to me about their failure to submit sufficient procedure information. Several months ago, they started sending me bills me for a pre-surgery procedure that was done an ENTIRE YEAR AND A HALF AGO and refused to waive it despite the fact tha... read more
Wonderful staff, the person at the reception desk was super nice and the nurses have incredible bedside manner. I had an exceptionally smooth experience with the anesthesia. Aside from my anesthesiologist, I had an all-female medical team (I remember Linda and Annette and of course Dr. Montes) that made me feel incredibly safe. Overall probably one of the best people I could have accompanying my surgery.
Excellent team and experience. The billing department made mistakes, but it has been corrected after many emails and calls.
I had a procedure in December when all deductibles were long paid off for the year. The billing lady started calling me weeks before the surgery to tell me I owed them before they would help me. I paid $1000+ just 2 weeks before Christmas. Turns out, I don't owe it and they will not refund my money. I have to escalate it with the Department of Insurance. While the intake expire was fine and orderly, the discharge experience was horrible. The nurse was uncaring: the privacy curtain left open while she put the bag on the bed and didn't even offer to help me get ready after the procedure. I had to get ready with the privacy curtain open. And all she did was watch me struggle. Nor was i offered any help getting into or out of the wheelchair. It was awful, and dangerous for my health.
