Love love LOVE!! The best spot to go to for a special dinner. We’ve come here on for Valentine’s day and our anniversary dinner and absolutely loved it. Service was excellent. Their Maine Lobster dish was phenomenal and definitely my favorite. We’ve also had the duck and also the salmon and they were absolutely delicious! We love sitting in the lounge area as it is generally quieter, but most of all for the live pianist! Always makes for a romantic atmosphere.
An addendum to *original review 5/23/26 : Last evening, we had the most incredible dinner date at the Union League, New Haven. A quintessential landmark serving incredible french food with an elegant, exquisite, welcoming atmosphere. As an extended family, we have been coming here for years. Celebrating our son, we had a wonderful dining experience at Union League Cafe during Yale graduation weekend. The atmosphere was elegant and timeless, with beautiful old-world charm, impeccable ambiance and excellent attention to detail throughout the restaurant. We stopped in for lunch and really enjoyed the restaurant, food and service. We started with the cheese board which came with three different cheeses served with mustard, honey and jam, along with some toast. For or entrees I had the burger which was cooked perfectly ( medium rare), it was served with a side salad. My girlfriend had the lamb bolognese which she really loved. The renovation was welcome very tastefully done, didn't try everything but the soup salad and entrée was delicious. Make sure you try a dessert or two.
