Imagine your best buddy made beer. Good beer. Imagine he had a kick ass warm friendly space, where everyone likes hanging out. And finally imagine everyone you met there was fun, engaging, and quick to talk to strangers. I experienced that tonight. Walked in trying to check out a new brewery (for me) and left feeling like this was my new place. Sampled a lot, talked and shared even more. It’s a joint to visit.
My daughter and I came across Union Brewing while walking the Monon midday on a Sunday. The outdoor setup with string lights, picnic tables, and music looked like a perfect place to take a quick break from biking. When we stepped inside, we were immediately told “no kids allowed.” We had no intention of sitting at the bar, we simply wanted to order a root beer and enjoy it outside. Beers are good! Owners are very personable, but the place overall is a bit cliquish. There are “regulars” and it’s pretty obvious.
