As both a patient and a registered nurse with nearly two decades of experience in emergency, trauma, and flight medicine, I left UNC Hillsborough Emergency Department deeply disappointed by the inconsistency in the quality of care and, more importantly, the lack of compassion demonstrated by some of its physicians. All are was well except my nurse Jenny or Genny, a blonde lady in the ER. I am immunocompromised, and shouldn’t have to watch in horror as my nurse reconnects my IVS after a trip to the bathroom, and doesn’t clean them AT ALL. I was already distressed, this has added more stress and I’ll be complaining to the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
Was very crowded due to the flu epidemic, but things moved as well as possible considering the amount of people and the fact that every bed was taken.
