On the last stop of The Ghan train trip in Coober Pedy. Great underground living area and shop for purchasing opals. Some lovely ones but not cheap for the better quality ones
Went through the free museum (full of so much interesting facts and things), the mine tour (which was very informative), and purchased the most stunning Opal Ring. The staff were absolutely fantastic, friendly, helpful with loads of knowledge, not pushy at all. They gave me the time and space to think and decide which ring I wanted by putting them aside for me while we did the mine tour to give me the time I needed to think and decide.
A very interesting museum with a lot of historical information about the area and its beginnings Many old photos and artifacts as well as an opal shop and underground home explained by an interesting guide
