Great mine and museum
Highly recommend visiting. So glad we did it! the museum is free and for $15.15 you get a 20 min intro video/story about the start of opal mining, then a guided tour of an old mine which has been set up as a old dugout home, a modern home and then you walk through the tunnels. Our Tour guide Zoe was fantastic, great to hear from someone who grew up in Coober Pedy and she added her own personal experiences to the tour! We learnt so much and got to ask lots of questions. We took our nearly 3 year old and he enjoyed it.
We loved the guided tour of the mine and underground homes. Bev was so friendly and knowledgeable. Glad we went to this mine with the tour first so we had a better understanding of opal mining before visiting others which had self-guided tours. Would definitely recommend!
