Just finished the Routeburn yesterday. Breathtaking, eye-welling beauty. Every day. Each day so different. Our guides (Lara, Mina, Beau and Izy) were flawless - totally prepared and expert, and yet perfectly unpretentious. We recently got back from the Routeburn track and had an amazing experience. Obviously the NZ scenery is the star of the show but the guides, lodge staff and admin staff are key to getting the show on the road. We were guided by Tee, Olly, Kana and Lucy who were knowledgeable, cheerful, positive and an absolute pleasure to walk with. They communicated well (big ups to Lucy and Olly in particular here) and had the hike extremely well organised (even with the weather disruptions). Did the Milford trek the year before and had an awesome time. We had a private room and it was pure luxury. Also very mind boggling how the lodges were kept so clean in the middle of the wilderness. Food was good and I put on weight - that's the only complaint I have. Looking forward to routeburn next year!

Somehow, they got permission to build their massive lodge on the Roteburn Track in the middle of the pristine wilderness. There are so few proper wilderness areas left in the world and you people decided to build a luxury tourist lodge on top of this place. You should be ashamed. To the prospective clients. Dont do it. Just stay in the DOC lodge like everybody else. Think about the cost to the environment so you can have your wine and your 3 course meals helicpotered in. Dont be so selfish.
