I met Dr. Akoma in 2022 at Jamaica Hospital when I was around 17 or so weeks pregnant. She performed my cerclage surgery and monitored me during my 6 weeks stay at the hospital. I owe my daughter’s life to her incredible work. My daughter is now three years old and thriving! I will be forever grateful that she was a part of the team that helped to bring my 29 week old premature daughter into this world. At 17 weeks pregnant, Dr. Akoma took my pregnancy seriously. She explained that my condition of having a shortened cervix and the steps to be taken so I can make it to full term. In a few days, I will have my cerclage removed and baby delivered full term all thanks to the caring and compassion I received from this doctor. I have yet to work with Dr. Akoma. For the past 2 weeks I have been trying to confirm if my referral to this hospital has gone through. No one at the receptionist desk wants to return my phone calls, which from other reviews I see is unfortunately the normal. I have an appointment scheduled for 8/6 but I have no idea if Dr. Akoma will be able to see me because no one at the office will confirm if my paperwork went through. Ugochi knows how to get the job done and is very professional at what she does. Don’t misinterpret her. She’s very nice, polite, and attentive. She does a fabulous job at what she does and she a wonderful MD I highly recommend seeing her.
