I have been a patient for 16 years with UCLA. I have found their specialists to be remarkable in Los Angeles. My insurance coverage has never inhibited me from scheduling with a specialist or needing a referral until the Goleta office recently did, when I was in extreme pain. I don't normally post reviews, but I would like to warn people away from UCLA Health. It is a cash-grab and the worst example of bureaucratic stonewalling that I have encountered. One star reflects the organization, not the physicians.
I have found moving to UCLA Health in Goleta to be the best thing I’ve done in many years. Appointments are easy to make and I was seen within days for routine visits, or offered help with another physician if mine wasn’t available that day for something urgent. I think what I value most is that I am listened to. At the other clinic in Santa Barbara I was rushed and delayed for years. My appointments were canceled repeatedly. I was told that this clinic did not accept my insurance only after arriving at the office and providing my card. This despite me providing my insurance information 6 weeks prior when making the appointment, and again the day before the appointment for the online check in. And despite UCLA and Dr Yamane being listed as my primary physician on my insurance card. Apparently UCLA accepts different insurance at different locations, though fails to mention this to patients when they make appointments. Would have been nice to know ... read more
