I had my first visit with UCI Health Newport MacArthur Primary Care and saw Dr. Kristin Masukawa. She was excellent — attentive, thorough, and someone I’d like to continue seeing. The part that disappointed me was the billing process. My new-patient visit ended up costing much more than I expected, and when I reached out to discuss it, the response I received felt more like a form reply than actual help. I should have read the reviews before going. I was charged around $600 (after insurance) for just a simple visit..! No lab tests, just a 15 minute conversation with the doctor. I even used their estimate calculator beforehand, but I guess it was inaccurate. Now I’m stuck paying this amount for such a short visit.

Incredibly disappointing and frankly infuriating. I scheduled a physical over the phone—clearly stated that was the purpose of the visit. No one mentioned that new patients aren’t allowed to get a physical during their first appointment. I showed up expecting the appointment I scheduled, only to be met by a smug, condescending receptionist who informed me I’d need to come in for an entirely separate “new patient” visit first—just to eventually be allowed to schedule a physical. This office is modern and clean. Dr. Gabriel is an amazing physician – so thorough and caring! My wife and I both see her and are incredibly happy with our care. Highly recommend!
