Recently I had vocal cord surgery at the Koerner Building. It was a remarkable experience which I would like to share so people know how truly outstanding this hospital is. Dr Scott Durham was my surgeon. He is a highly gifted individual - I am so fortunate to receive care from him and thank him from the bottom of my heart. It's nice to have this on campus, but getting any service at all can be hit or miss. I went here for an ECG. The website says they're open to 5pm and I called and talked to someone who said they do walk-ins until 5pm, but when I showed up at 4:15 I was told that the ECG person was gone and I needed to show up before 4pm. I don't know if the person I talked on the phone was wrong or the ECG person just went home early or what, but their posted hours and the hours they gave over the phone don't match the actual hours.
My son had a jaw surgery here that required him to stay overnight and wow, the staff were amazing! From the night nurse to the morning nurse. Everyone was so kind and gentle which is what you want when you have someone who is extremely nervous and anxious!! I hope if I ever have anything done that I end up here, they are doing something right with their recruiting and training process!!!
It should not take three separate scheduled lab visits across different hospitals to complete a simple blood test. • The first lab didn’t offer the test. • The second lab (at a hospital) said the test is not performed on Fridays. • The third lab turned me away because I didn’t have a printed requisition, even though the previous two had accepted it via email.
