I've used TrueCar for about 16 years and purchased several vehicles through the platform. Unfortunately, the service has become a shadow of what it once was. The biggest issue is that many dealers advertise prices that don't include dealer markups, mandatory add-ons, or other fees. Recently totaled a vehicle, in my claims packet there was a link to TrueCar. I was in a bind, so I immediately found a vehicle and processed a payment from my bank and had all paperwork notarized and completed within a week. Only after doing so found out it would be an additional 3 weeks before it will arrive...it's going to end up costing an additional $700 in rental fees while I wait.
