I saw Dr. McClure some years ago when I was having trouble with what I thought was some kind of inflammation issue, or potentially a color issue. It turned out to be hemorrhoids and something called hidradentitis supurativa. Dr. McClure was amazing and very kind. She wanted me to have a colonoscopy but I shied away from it, being young then. My husband is a new patient with this group and saw a PA who was excellent. waiting to hear about scheduling a procedure, but we could not get in to see anyone at U of M even though he has been a patient there for years. Doesn’t matter how good they are if you can’t actually get an appointment for months. This has been a recurring problem with specialty clinics for some time. Apparently you can’t see an actual doctor at this place and have to schedule with a PA or Nurse Practitioner. Some arbitrary document determines if your symptoms are what they consider severe enough and that confirms if you’re worthy of a doctor. Terrible. People don’t want to see a PA or NP especially if referred to by a primary. I wouldnt recommend IHA to anyone
Maybe this office will help you— or maybe they’ll just fat-shame you. Dr. McClure did my surgery in 2020. My problems first arose in 2018 as an overweight but not obese patient; now obese, I’ve been told it’s not their problem, but that “you need to take responsibility” and go see “lifestyle” medicine. I’ve been Dr. McClure's patient for 5 years, and I have not been able to speak directly with Dr. McClure for 2 years. I am directed instead to see their NP. This facility fails its promises to call back in a timely fashion. Took a month just to make an appointment for a basic colonoscopy.
