THIS PLACE SHOULD BE CONDEMNED — DO NOT STAY HERE We stayed at this Sparrow Lake cottage in July and it was a catastrophic experience. The property is unsafe, unsanitary, and completely misrepresented online. If you value your health, safety, money, or peace of mind — avoid this rental. Major issues we encountered: • No air conditioning during a July heatwave — the cottage was unbearably hot. • Our puppy developed heat exhaustion because of the broken AC. We stayed at their Woody cottage and it wasn’t quite what we expected. We knew that this was not a cottage where we could go swimming, but we didn’t expect the amount of muck at the waters edge. When our furry companions came out of the water they brought a layer of silt with them so we had to go into town to get some dog shampoo to use throughout the week. We had such a great weekend at the cottage with our family! The house was super spacious, comfortable, and perfect for a family getaway. There were lots of games to enjoy, which kept everyone entertained and added to the fun. The landlord was really responsive and easy to reach whenever we had a question, which made things so much easier. Everything about the cottage is great except the lack of AC. It was so hot the first two days we almost had a full Chris Benoit situation. The lake has great fishing and there's a tiny beach, but the water is super weedy. If the weather was more moderate it would almost be the perfect spot. But that's as reliable as your wife backing up your boat trailer.
We rented this cottage for a week last year and it was okay. Beautiful scenery and nice inside. Both screen doors were broken and the grass was a foot long. We decided to give it another chance for the lake view . We showed up this year and the entire back deck was caved in and not usable. Unsafe. We were not told of this in advance. Half of the windows don't have screens and the ones that did were broken. And the screen doors still didn't work after we were told they were fixed from last year.
