It all started with a mill. A group of men from Winston inaugurated plans to build a railroad through the Mayo River valley in 1883 from Salem, North Carolina to Roanoke, Virginia, to be known as the Roanoke and Southern Railroad. Construction began in 1887 under the direction of Francis Henry Fries, son of Salem Textile manufacturer. The railroad was opened by January of 1892 at a cost of two million dollars, but was later sold to the Norfolk and Western Railroad Company. Dog fights, obvious drug usage, and people who can’t mow their grass. Also, neighbors that do everything they can to get you to move! I grew up in Mayodan but I am disappointed at how it is taken care of. I will be glad when my finances are straight so I can get out! Don’t recommend this place to anyone...
I am so upset, a popular restaurant like Star Pizza employees lies as much as they do. They mess up orders and when u ask for corrections they say that you were mean or disrespectful to them so they won't have to deliver to your home anymore. What is more embarrassing is that The owner/boss or manager believes them over the customer and hangs up with absolutely no proof. In fact his employees are lying the whole time. Mayodan is the best place that i have ever lived & been here over 35 years! Ive lived all over the USA but #Mayodan is home & my roots are deep! So many nice people & love this life!
Love the town but not too happy learning they threw the flowers away on my dad's grave.
