Spent 7 hours with trauma in my eye with the least priority from the hospital team. "Best eye care" hospital in Toronto is far from the best: in Emergency department there is no equipment to perform the eye exam!. They sent you to the 7th floor Dr.Donald K.Johnson Eye Center after 3 hours on Emergency. And you wait there for 5 hours till the end of the day, when all patients are done, to finally see the doctor! Nurses are good. Terrible bedside manner from attending doctors though. If you leave your assigned area to use the washroom or for any reason it will take hours for that attending to come back. They don't even respond to the nurses asking them to attend. We have been here for 25 + hours due to reasons above. Our MRI was at 845 the night before and 945 today we're still waiting gl to be discharged or told something. I was here twice this past year, once for a stroke and once for brain surgery. The nurses and doctors are all so amazing and kind. I am studying healthcare so I know how difficult the system can be, but the staff here are really on the ball. During my recovery everyone was super caring and generous, even with their busy workload. They really helped me to feel safe and cared for during difficult times!
I definitely would recommend this hospital especially if you're having anything going on with your vision. They have an excellent ophthalmology department. The surgeons the doctors the support staff the nurses all deserve a huge round of applause and a big thank you from everybody for working so hard.
