Update - re the petition to the state government: the government will never buy such a ramshackle property. Previous patients of this facility need to look at other options. I can't even put into words how bad this place was. The last two reviews have all the hallmarks of fake positive reviews if you go into their other reviews. Mental health services are desperately needed across the board, but the shared room design (some of which didn't even have bathrooms), cramped feeling, total lack of interest by the mostly agency/ overseas nurses and the cost cutting measures by the family that owned it (worsening food, removal of laundry) made this terrible. Finding an excellent Psychiatrist whom treated patients here was exactly what I needed. This hospital is extremely well run and full of experienced, caring professionals. I entered completely broken and am so thankful for have stayed here. The Milton House Art therapy was just perfect to escape too and play creatively. Thank you Toowong Team and Dr Wong for helping me, I will never forget it.
Toowong hospital has helped me so much with my depression. Yes the building might be older but the nursing staff who make sure they sit and speak with you every day to see how you are and help in any way, the therapists are friendly, helpful and a wealth of knowledge. There is a whole holistic approach on your whole health not just mental health. All this means you overlook the building.
