Went for a WOF, was spoken to disrespectfully on the phone by one of the mechanics and when collected by my partner the following day, no verbal advice was provided regarding next steps to pass the WOF. Was just told to pay $80 and sent on our way - the WOF failed. Didn’t realise until returning home. Total time wasters.
I take my car in because the engine was running a bit shaky. I was told it was the airflow sensor, and that it would take less than an hour to check. Without replacing the sensor, they charged me $660 just for the inspection/diagnosis. Then I was given a quote of $1,160 for the replacement — including $499 for the airflow sensor alone. The same sensor costs around $45 brand new elsewhere. That markup is shocking. For $660, many places would replace a major component like a gearbox — not just diagnose a sensor.
