Founded in September, 1898 as "Strong & Johnstone Co." by Ketchikan pioneers Henry C. Strong and Frederick C. Johnstone, it was renamed Tongass Trading Company in 1900, and incorporated in October, 1901. At the turn of the century, Tongass Trading Company supplied the miners and mining camps throughout Southeast Alaska. I bought a jacket from here when I visited last June. Back home, I finally got to wear, but was way too big. I tried it on with a hoodie and a jacket in Alaska, guess it isn't as cold in California :) I tracked the store down on google, called and got Kendra. Gave my order and got everything perfectly packed and delivered in a week. The Best Service ever from her! Good quality jackets and woolley hats.
They have great people and products in this store!
I can't spend my money at a place that is so uncaring in their treatment of their employees and communitee.
Visited back in July and was very impressed with selection and customer service. My boyfriend wears an unusual pant size and didn't have much hope that they would have anything in stock for him, but he found what became his favorite pair of pants EVER. Of course he didn't remember to save the tag so we could order more, so after a fruitless search online I called TTC. What an awesome place to shop for your must-have Alaska souvenirs. Great quality products. Wide variety. Super prices. Attentive customer service. Friendly employees. We have been so happy with our purchases — from reversible jackets to coffee mugs. They also were able to quickly sell us fishing licenses we needed for our charter. And there are so many fun things to see in the store. This is a must-visit place in Ketchikan.
Thank you so much for making my son’s day!! Last week I sent a message about a Bear we left on our cruise ship. We were hoping to get a new one for a sad little boy. You graciously sent a picture to make sure it was the right one and had one in the mail to us right away! He made it home and everyone is very excited! Above and beyond!! Thanks again!
