Tonalli is like a bad boyfriend. They take your money, ignore your needs, make you sick, and then expect you to feel grateful for the whole experience. Translation: the food is overpriced; the service is abysmal; and if you're not careful, you're liable to walk away with food poisoning, as I did tonight. I wanted to make this place my regular hang-out. I live nearby, and there's a shortage of decent restaurants in the neighborhood. Not good customer service – Tonalli opened as a neighborhood breath of fresh air. It has no competetion in it class. The food is excellent. I have had many meals there including my birthday party but I am not going to eat there or order take out again. I walked my 83 year old stir crazy mother with Parkinson's disease the 4 four blocks down the street, she got dressed up and excited not to be eating my cooking.
