I am from Germany and have no opportunity to experience Tom Burke in a live workshop. But what I learn online from him is unique. He is outstanding in terms of content and didactics, has a very deep knowledge and communicates this in a very friendly and relaxed way: absolutely professional!
We spent a week on Diction rules and took a deep dive into diction related strategies. I’ve noticed that this very deliberate work yields several huge benefits for me. Buried into the text of many songs are consonants that have the potential for pressurizing the folds. Without knowing it we can put our folds thru a boxing match of impacts on them. Tom is an excellent teacher - clear, concise, super-knowledgeable, creative and fun! I have studied voice for 40 years and have taught for 27 years, but Tom has given me new tools and “quick fixes” that have made an immediate improvement in my students and me! It has helped in all styles from opera to pop! I also was resistant to the online classes, but if you really put in the time, it is like going back to college, but more fun and for a fraction of the cost!
