Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park is located in Lonoke County, Arkansas. This archaeological site protects an 18-mound complex with the tallest surviving prehistoric mounds in Arkansas. This site was occupied by its original inhabitants from 600 C.E to 1050 C.E. It got added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 12, 1973.

So cool to walk around the mounds and learn about the history of the first people who called this land home.
My brother and I very much enjoy our time here. The museum was full of very interesting information. The mounds was very interesting. I think this park would be a better choice in the Spring or Fall. We didn't get the full outlook because the Summer heat drove us back inside. I liked two things especially. The peek behind the curtain to look into the archeologists' lab and that many of the gift shop items were inexpensive-good for a child. Overall fantastic time had
Okay this one is awesome. The mounds are very visible even from the parking lot. And while it's more to the plum bayou's culture's credit, they are very obviously mounds, not hills. And the musuem is also neat, covering a whole lot more the just the mounds and plum bayou culture. One word of advice, don't do the thing we did and vist on a very hot day. Still enjoyed myself. Oh, and another thing somewhat related, it's almost next door neighbors to an almost equally excellent state park.
The grounds here are beautiful. But of course the true draw is basking in the palpable history of the place.
