Chip Wood started Tire Discounters over 40 years ago. He revolutionized the industry at that time, including mounting and balancing at no additional charge. Many imitators (thank goodness!) do that these days, but Tire Discounters was the first. Then, in 1996, Chip started including a free alignment with standard installation on any 4-tire purchase. If you need your tires changed, take it somewhere else. If you need an oil change, definitely take it somewhere else. Drop my wife's car off in the morning. By three p m, it's still not done. Number 1 I'm confused why a 30 minute oil change takes 9 hours. 2 the way we bought our car we get 3 free oil changes paid for by the dealership. I visited the Athens discounted tires unexpectedly coming from New Orleans heading to Nashville, Tn. My ride became bumpy and when I stopped to check I had a tire that unknowingly belt had broken. I was as in panic as we were coming from a volleyball tournament and I needed to get players home and had already been on the road for about 6 hrs. Great customer service! I Arrived in Athens for an appointment for my mom and had a flat tire. I called tire discounters and Mike came to my rescue. He came to my location and was able to inflate my tire so I could drive to the store without damaging the wheel. A few minutes later he had an estimate for me and by the time my mom's appointment was done the car was finished and was reasonably priced. Thank you Mike and the entire Athens staff for making a bad day bearable! Highly recommend!
