After a brief job as a mechanic for the army during WWI, he went to work at French Tinsel Company in Manhattan, the main product being metal threads in an array of styles, colors and sizes also known as Tinsel, and made in France. It's not surprising that he gravitated towards threads, after all his father was a tailor. Metal thread, however, was an unusual choice for an ambitious young man to start his career with. Years passed and Arch J. Bergoffen, my grandfather purchased the company in 1933, changed the name and thus be... read more

Tinsel Trading When I'm feeling a little bit artsy and a little bit craftsy I head over to Tinsel Trading (or their website)! Tinsel Trading allows me to find products for my creative side that are hard to locate in other common stores. Tinsel Trading is truly one of a kind and original.

Absolute WORST Customer Service Ever! If I could give them no stars I would. I talked to Marsha about getting a large quantity of flower petals for my wedding and she informed me that wouldn't be a problem. I showed up and she had me wait for a half hour to get the item only to be told to write my number down and they'd call me. They never did. So I called a number of times and they kept jerking me around for OVER A MONTH. Called again today and was put on hold for 10 minutes so I hung up. Went there only to find out they di... read more
Tinsel: Trading Company - A chance encounter Just by chance I found this lovely store. So many retro items! Had a hard time selecting and staying within budget. Bought a glittery cardboard castle that reminds me of the ones my mother used to place around our Christmas tree. They were old then, and time and humidity did them in. Also found perfect copies of cocktail picks with animal or clown heads. Another childhood memory revived. Service with a smile. WILL DEFINITELY VISIT AGAIN NEXT TIME I'M IN NYC!
Ribbons and Flowers I found the Tinsel Trading Company accidently and was so happy to have found it. This store is a great place if you are the arts and craft type. They sell an assortment of ribbons, flowers, trimmings, buttons and beads. If you are looking to get married and are in need of ribbons I would totally recommend this place. The people are very friendly and not too expensive on the wallet.
a resource for imagination Tinsel Trading Company has the best contemporary, vintage, new and rare passementeries, ribbons, metallic trims, flowers, etc.. Great place for crafters, DIY'ers, designers, and creative people. Their pricing is reasonable and their stuff is very unique and organized. The ladies that work there have always been really nice and helpful to me, so i highly recommend this store.
