I could say so many wonderful things about our time at Timber Bay. We rented a houseboat over Fourth of July weekend and things could not have gone smoother. Checking in we were greeted by Janet (one of the owners) who was extremely knowledgeable and very, very friendly and then Drew (the other owner) who was equally as accommodating, he came in to give us a brief overview of the lake and boat operations. As someone who has never driven a houseboat before I felt more than prepared after speaking with him. The staff was also ... read more

We love spending a week each summer at the Bear Trap Cabin at Timber Bay Lodge and Houseboats! The resort has many great outdoor options for the whole family- our favorites include the swimming beach, kayaks and paddle boards, hiking trails, and the docks for great sunsets. We rent a pontoon and enjoy exploring all that Birch Lake has to offer. The kids enjoy going on adventures with the Kids Club. Janet and Drew are amazing hosts!

I’ve been going to Timber Bay off and on for 30 years. The hospitality has not changed and the service is on point. With the new ownership, I can honestly tell you this place is heading in the right direction extremely friendly and highly engaged in customer service is of the highest priority. One thing I would recommend is upgrade the boats, I believe those have to be at least 15 to 20 years old. Cabins were absolutely amazing with heat and air conditioning and super clean.

The grounds are super clean, cabins well spaced from each other. The lake is clean and perfect for swimming and fishing. Houseboats are a vintage experience for sure, but come with fridge, grill, bathroom, etc. Everything we needed. The houseboat experience definitely provided the adventure element to our trip. It feels like the bou... read more

We had an amazing time spending 3 nights on a houseboat. The highlight of the trip was meeting local fisherman Hag who is affiliated with Timber Bay and available for hire. My son and nephew caught 14 walleye in 3 hours with Hag and he is a priceless Northern Minnesota gem. Drew was super helpful and kind when we got stuck once or twice. Cooking/grilling on the boat was very easy (no microwave, so plan accordingly). Plenty of sleeping space for 4 adult sized people. The lake was beautiful. Lots of spots to tie up for the nig... read more
