SELLER BEWARE using COUNTY TITLE CO of Peoria, IL. They handled my closing in Feb. 2017, and made a $1926.00 mistake on the amount of taxes due for 2016. Papers signed, mistake not caught at closing, money not retrievable!
As per the purchasers of my 78 year old Mother's home, Kevin Tilton discussed with them the fact that the property tax amount on the closing documents was incorrect. He advised them that there is a new law in effect (est. 2 years ago) where no refunds will be made in such an error. Bottom line, my elderly mother was swindled out of almost $1,800.
