Not even sure why they have an ER as no one there ever acts in urgency. I have had to bring a few critical patients there as it is the closest hospital only for staff to do slow and minimal work. They don’t even have a doctor there during the night. They don’t have a lab for blood work, they don’t do stitches. Visited Three Hills Hospital for a training course and had a very positive first impression. It’s a smaller, community hospital, but it feels active and well-utilized. I was warmly welcomed by the manager, who kindly helped guide me to the training room, which I really appreciated. The staff environment also feels diverse and supportive, and the cafeteria was a pleasant surprise with a good selection of meals that were actually quite tasty. I was visiting family in Three Hills & had a medical emergency in the early evening of Sat. Jan. 3. My husband & I were pleased with the overall care that I got while there. The nurse on duty started monitoring me after no more than about 1/2 hr. & continued caring for me, as needed, through the night. A Dr. was brought in from Red Deer & there were a couple other patients admitted after me. It was a very foggy night, so I'm thankful that the Dr. got there safely himself to care for us in emerg. Emergency department here is the worst I've seen on a global level. Never have I seen ( on multiple occasions ) health care staff move slower then canada post workers do on strike. They are beyond any kind of a rush, usually never friendly, nor helpful. I'm blown away by the lack of integrity and work ethic. I feel as if these people are held to a low standard, and no accountability.
