Not affiliated with the famous TV show, but an unpretentious, agreeable hangout nonetheless. – In Short No, this isn't the place where everybody knows your name--unless you live and work in the South Station area. The irony is that Three Cheers actually feels more like the setting of the TV show--a down-to-earth, working-class Boston hangout--than does the official, tourist-oriented Cheers. Walk into the spacious bar after work hours and you'll find a lively, diverse crowd of off-duty folks hanging out and kicking back.

Not for Saturday night – I stopped in here after dinner with a few friends on a recent Saturday night while we waited to catch our trains from South Station. Maybe this place is more lively during the work week, but it was dead when we were there. Maybe 4 or 5 other customers, no joke. They were out of a few drinks we asked for, and the Sam Adams I finally settled on was overpriced. There was nothing special about this place, the only reason I would go back is that there is little else in the area near South Station.

Yick – The food is terrible. I order fried scallops ($14.95, way over priced) What came was a giant plate of fries with 8-10 undercooked scallops where the batter was still damp. I told the server and all she could say was sorry. She didn't ask if I wanted anything different. I will never go back again and I will tell everyone I know to stay away.
