Top flight interventional cardiologist. Clear and informative before procedure, at conclusion of PCI, and in recovery room. Takes time to solicit questions and concerns, listens, answers and provides clear and understandable responses including technical topics. One is left reassured that the patient is under the care of a superb specialist.
On 2/26/1999 I had a heart attack at age 52 and was sent by ambulance from Highland Park Hospital to Lutheran General Hospital. Dr. Mayer performed an angioplasty on my RCA with one stent. I will never forget during the procedure when he asked me to cough-my blood pressure was very low. When my artery opened I could feel an “opening up type sensation” that relieved me physically, mentally and emotionally. 10 years ago I walked in the Highland Park hospital not realizing I was having a heart attack. Dr Mayer was on floor and with in seconds had me in the cath lab and saved my life.. his care and demeanor, dedication and kindness have been taking care of me ever since.
