Mixed experience on the Father/Son trip end of July 2025. The good: the fishing; the lodge; the incredible food; the great guide. The bad: horribly poor job packing all of our salmon, halibut, and ling cod for the trip home. Frozen fish was thrown into 4 cardboard boxes without any insulation or ice packs. Even if the airline hadn't lost the boxes for a few hours, there is no way the fish would have remained frozen for the 17 hour trip back home. Long time bucket list to fish Haida Gwaii. We decided to try West Coast fishing club (The clubhouse). We were lucky enough to get a slot in late August. The experience was first class and seamless from the moment we got to South terminal in Vancouver. All the staff were friendly and attentive to our every need. Big nod to Hollie from Scotland perhaps our favourite server and you truly haven’t had scotch until it was poured by a Scot. Best fishing place yet. My first visit was a success. Can’t wait to do it all over again next year! I mean, everything, the way you are treated with the food, I mean, it’s just absolutely brilliant. I’ve never been treated with that much professionalism in my life before until I came to the WCFC.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at WCFC this year & we couldn’t have had a better time. The staff are all attentive and knowledgeable, the property is lovely and comfortable and the food is phenomenal. Our guide Liam is an exceptional fisherman and about the perfect guide. He took us to all the best spots and in addition to nearly maxing out on Spring, halibut & Lingcod we got to see sea lions, orcas, dolphins, eagles & humpbacks.
