RecommendedEmerging from the chrysalis of the Southwest Center for Advanced Studies, UTD could be expected to be challenging -- on purpose. The tough-minded scientist/businessmen who created UTD meant business. They wanted an institution that turned out a cadre of graduates who could compete with anyone from older, established universities. They did it. From how I’ve observed UTD has handled my friend’s incident, I am not a fan of this place. Rather than actually care for a student, they “apologize” and then do nothing about it except try and erase any public record of it so it doesn’t taint their good overall rating. That’s a real shame.
