Asked if they had dairy free options. Staff asked the manager and came back and said sherbert, which didn’t seem right but they confirmed. After my dairy free son (allergy) began eating I checked again with the same person because it didn’t seem right. The same employee asked the same manager and came back and confirmed in fact it was not dairy free. It’s just an allergy people not like it affects his health. It’s amazing in 2026 this is still an issue.
I hate writing a negative review because Union Dairy has always been a special place to me. Growing up, it was the place to go in Freeport, so this visit was really disappointing. We stopped in around 2:00 PM on Tuesday (7/14) and ordered two bacon cheeseburgers, two fries, two drinks, and two single-scoop waffle cones. The ice cream is always great. But I don't like the aggressive proselytizing that's been introduced into the place.
Great ice cream and a nice atmosphere. I highly recommend.
