While the atmosphere is beautiful, we were disappointed with the experience. The staff is very pretentious and called us before to make sure we were “familiar with the dress code.” This could be looked past except for the food was very expensive and not worth the price. What an exceptional place! There clearly has been put a lot of thought into decorations and ambiance. From the moment you walk in it feels like you walk into another world with so much attention to detail. Service and service was exceptional. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a special experience in Edgartown.
I recently revisited this restaurant after having a great experience there about a year ago. While the atmosphere remains absolutely stunning—beautifully designed and a pleasure to be in—the food and drinks were unfortunately disappointing this time around. A very subpar meal with wonderful ambiance. The terrace tables were in a lovely setting next to the fountain. The inside was well decorated with antiques. The food, however, was borderline bad and the entire experience was not worth the high cost. Their pretentious dress code and cold staff would be something I could look past if the food was actually good but we were all left very disappointed. While the ambience is delightful, and the service impeccable, the food didn't meet our expectations. My salad ingredients were fine, but the dressing was sour. My lamb wasn't the melt-in-your-mouth kind that the $70+ price tag justifies, and my wife's lobster tail was chewy. The dessert was delicious, making for a happy ending, but a disappointing experience. The following evening our meal at the Outermost Inn reminded us that an excellent meal can be enjoyed in a lovely setting and with attentive service.
